Despite ongoing concerns that tariffs on imported goods, proposed under Trump’s administration, could increase costs for both consumers and businesses, potentially slowing the economy, investors found relief in the possibility that these measures could be eased. Optimism grew as markets bet on future trade deals that might lead to a rollback of some tariffs.

Investor sentiment was already buoyant ahead of the jobs report, especially after China announced it’s open to exploring new trade talks with the U.S. However, Chinese officials also stressed that progress depends on the U.S. reversing its unilateral tariff decisions. In a statement, they emphasized, β€œIf the U.S. wants meaningful dialogue, it must act in good faith and undo its harmful tariff actions.

Adding to the market’s momentum, investors also digested earnings results from two members of the β€œMagnificent Seven.” On Thursday evening, tech giants Amazon and Apple released their quarterly financials, drawing significant attention from Wall Street.
